There have been a bunch of races already this Summer and the girls from LP, well, we brought it (is that how it's said?). Here is an incomplete list of results:

3rd Annual Oakland Scrape: Money Clip (Jay), 1st place!

2nd Annual All Girls Alley Cat (our own production): again Money Clip took home the fancy prizes, followed closely by Rug Burn (Kelly) and Disneyland (Christina). "Team Ramer" was the second group to cross the finish line, including V. Dentatta (Emilyn), Man Trap (Elaina), Corner Pocket (Ellie), and a lovely girl from SF who we forgot to name (Tiereney). Our sponsors were so rad that we had enough prizes for ever girl who raced. Oh, and I think everyone finished the race too! Only one minor injury and no incidents with law enforcement.

Quake City Rumble (SFBMA): This was a grueling 4 hour set of hill repeats disguised as an Alley Cat race. Disneyland destroyed the competition, the first woman to cross the line and also the only woman to finish the race who is not a working messenger. Rug Burn and Man Trap came in somewhere in the top ten. Also, check out the photos.

O.K. We're slowly but surely getting our act together for the 2nd annual All Girls Alley Cat. The after party location and a several prizes are confirmed including $150 towards tattoos with Adam Barton of O'Reilly's! Go check it out on the events page. We've got our Monday night ride listed on the Free Skool calendar this season. Unfortunately, they turned down Man Trap's "mountain biking for road biking ladies" class. Ask her for more details. No rides on March 17th or, hmmm, I forgot the other date...will update later.

No ride tonight!

Instead, meet at the Caffe Perg at 7PM. We'll adjourn to la casa de Love Boat for beer and snacks and to plan the All Girls Alley Cat for 2008, fundraisers, other non competitive events, etc.

That is, on December 1st there will be the Bombshell Race, a girls only alleycat in Oakland. This one's sponsored by Sam of the Fix Without Dix crew. Some of us are heading up on Friday night to part with Doug in The City and sleep on couches. Saturday we're heading to the Beast for racing and staying over with the girls over there. O.K. so this photo is from the No Pants Race and there aren't girls in the frame, but I think most of us appreciate bike boys in their chones. Right?

There are lots and lots of races going on lately...most of them are posted on the Events page. Especially worthy of your attention is the Dia de Los Muertos Race in Santa Cruz on November 3rd. It's gonna be a long, grueling, prize-less, mostly urban bike race with free food and free punk rock at the finish! So far this month, a crew of three Palomitas went up to Oakland for the Fighting Chance Alley Cat thrown by April. Rug Burn, Love Boat and Man Trap all placed and brought home rad prizes. This last weekend was the Lost Boys race, a quick little tour of S.C. Rug Burn won that one and Man Trap destroyed the (all male) competition in a bizarre sprint/little bike sprint combo...while wearing fish net stockings.

Also, check out the race series in the City, put on by Godspeed Courier. Also an ALL GIRLS RACE in OAKLAND on December 1st, thrown by Sam of Fix Without Dix crew. Gawd, she's hot. Anyway, plenty opportunity to race this Winter. Get out there and have some fun!

Here's the synopsis from the new flyer...

"Las Palomitas is a ladies bike gang. A group ride for women. A radical feminist collective. A professional cycling organization. A drinking club. A group of girls to help you with bike maintenance. A ride where you aren't left behind or left out. And whatever else you want it to be.

We ride every wednesday at 6:30 PM. Meet at the Caffe Pergolesi for a beverage around 6; we'll leave at 6:30 and stop by the Bike Church to round up some more folks on our way out. We choose a ride based on the desires of the people who show up. Rides are typically between 2 and 5 miles long with minimal hills, and aimed towards a pleasant outdoor location to rest and hang out before heading back down town. Helmets, flat repair tools, and lights are strongly suggested. All girls and women on all types of bikes are invited and encouraged."

Man Trap, Rug Burn and the Pink Panther all mashed up to the city this last weekend to witness and/or race in the North American Cycle Courier Championships. Man Trap kicked some ass in the cargo race and brought home a fancy new mess' bag.

TOMORROW NIGHT we're all getting together to drink some beers and talk about riding bikes. That is, we're gonna plan some rides for next month. Meet at the Poet at 8:30 and bring your calendar. If you're underage, just email...we can meet for coffee before hand or something.

Woah! Bike2Work prep. day was nuts, but we did it. A big crew or local boys and ladies did a ton of deliveries and pick-up's yesterday with their bikes and bike trailers! Free breakfast for bikers, brought to you (mostly) by bike.

V. Dentata, Rug Burn, Man Trap and our newest girl: Bounce House took a ride out to Wilder Ranch last night. We rode out along the Wilder bike path from the north side of town to the ranch and then rode out to the cliffs and enjoyed a few beers and watched the sun set. Lovely. Photos up soon, I hope!

Last Thursday's ride was a blast! We rode east along the coast and stopped at Pleasure Point to hang out and drink a botella de vino. One of the Oakland girls came down and two new local girls joined us...
